Water-resistant stickers: what should you check?

Need water-resistant stickers for bottles, packaging or outdoor use? Tell us what they need to withstand and we will help specify a suitable material, print and adhesive.

Water-resistant does not cover every use

Wiping a label clean, sticking it to a chilled bottle and putting a product through a dishwasher are very different demands.

Ask about material specifications and testing conditions. Avoid assuming any unverified label is universally waterproof.

What needs to work together?

Film, print, protective coating and adhesive each affect performance. The surface and application temperature matter as well.

Clean and dry the surface before applying. Grease, dust, condensation and low temperatures can interfere with adhesion.

Describe the actual exposure

Bottle labels, bathroom products, outdoor equipment and signs may need different construction and testing.

Rather than saying 'waterproof', explain whether the label faces splashes, immersion, cleaning agents, rain or repeated washing.

Quote checklist

  • Splash, condensation, rain, immersion or dishwasher?
  • Surface and application temperature?
  • Contact with cleaning chemicals?
  • Required lifespan and removability?

We help align material and production specifications with your particular project when preparing your quote.
